Format change opens door for debutants

WITH a new-look competition set to suit Guernsey’s windsurfers next week, Matt Le Poidevin will hope to make an impact at his maiden NatWest Island Games.
He is one of the three Games debutants in the team and although he admits he knows little about the opposition, he is hopeful of a good opening experience.
‘I am very excited about my first Games and it is a great honour to be representing the island,’ he said.
‘Because of the changes that have come about to the format [from circuit racing to slalom], I have been able to get a place and take part.’
