Muratti date stays
Wednesday 22nd June 2011, 2:30PM BST.
GUERNSEY’S Muratti footballers could face two games in 48 hours after the Inter-Insular Football Committee rejected Sarnian hopes of pushing the 2012 Muratti final back a week.
That scenario could happen if Guernsey FC’s Combined Counties League fixtures schedule drifts into May.
It is understood GFC, whose coaching team may well double up as those in charge of the Muratti side, had hoped to avoid any potential clash by getting Jersey to agree to a delay, if required.
But, last Saturday’s Inter-Insular Football Committee gathering, which comprised representatives of the three island associations, opted to keep with the status quo and the final will be played on the same weekend, potentially two days after GFC’s last CCL game.
