British champ Laine has a new target

THERE will be few of Guernsey’s competitors entering tomorrow’s NatWest Island Games in better form than Tara Laine.
To become a British champion in your sport is one thing, to do something only one person has achieved in the previous 60 years is quite another.
But that is exactly what air pistol shooter Laine has done, becoming only the second woman in history to win the prestigious Gallie Cup, awarded for the 50-yard British championship.
Although the trophy now permanently resides at Bisley, the championship was held in Jersey earlier this month, which also featured the Channel Island Open Pistol Championship.
