OVERLOADING the engines rather than a misassembled gearbox has led to recent problems with the Condor Rapide, the German manufacturer has claimed.
Renk AG manufactured the gearboxes for the Express, Vitesse and Rapide catamarans in 1997 and 1998 in Australia, and has helped to maintain them since.
Last week, Condor managing director Simon Edsall said that the problems with the Rapide came down to the gearbox being misassembled by Renk in 2010.
However, Renk general marine manager Franz Hoppe has rejected this, saying it had warned Condor that the operator was overworking its ferries.

….and there you have it from the mouth of the land of the Grimm Brothers…the fairies are being over-worked….I bet Santa’s elves have a similar complaint.

“the operator was overworking its ferries.” Is that possible, or is the gearbox not up to the job. Or is the ferry not built for the job. either way some kind of miss selling in my book.

Of course Condor are overloading their engines
they run Weymouyh – Guernsey – StMalo and back again. These boats are virtually fully loaded and at full stretch.

Condor ferries is like a misbehaving child they never take the blame for anything they just say
‘its not our fault, we cant help the boat braking down’ do you ever hear halfway across the channel from aurigny or blueislands say ‘well sorry guys we only have one engine’ no because they maintain there fleet not only for safety but for customer satisfaction. Condor needs to take a step back and look at what’s going on, I don’t know about everyone else but a sorry and a date everything will be back up and working would be nice.

William!
So you do believe in fairies?
You must do if you think anything from the other side of the Channel will apologise for anything-
It just isn’t in the nature of that land.

william you’ve never experienced a delay due to an aircraft having a fault part? I’ve had plenty.
Who cares who’s fault it is, get it fixed and rearrange the schedule to put less strain on the gearboxes.
