Roland Le Prevost, who had his dinghy stolen, has been given an unused one. As he wants to take the dinghy home and out of the reach of thieves he has now asked the Environment Department if he can have an abandoned trailer at Richmond Corner. THE kindness of strangers could put a pensioner back on the water again – six weeks after thieves stole his dinghy.

Roland Le Prevost, 75, received the offer of a new launch from two kind-hearted Guernsey people after they read about the theft in the Guernsey Press last week.

After reading that the pensioner could no longer get out to his boat – moored outside St Sampson’s harbour – Sue Le Cras said she really wanted to help.

‘I felt so sorry for him when I saw his picture, but I didn’t know how to contact him. But my friend is a fisherman, and he said “I know where he lives”.’
