Runway work could halt events
Tuesday 28th June 2011, 2:29PM BST.
AIRPORT DIRECTOR Colin Le Ray (pictured) has warned that the next two air rallies might have to be cancelled because of the runway redevelopment.
However, the Guernsey Aero Club does not think the work will have a detrimental impact on private pilots and is not writing off the chance of keeping events, like the one held at the weekend, going.
The airport is expected to be closed for four periods of three nights and two days in order to complete the £80m. project.
Aero Club chairman Rob Le Page said that the fact the closures were for short periods meant it would be easier for private fliers to rearrange their travel compared with commercial airlines.
