RHODES’ footballers have kissed goodbye to NatWest Island Games football for at least six more years.
That was the big negative to emerge from day three of competition in the Isle of Wight, the big positive being that Guernsey continue to sail away from the opposition at the top of the medals table.
Half-a-dozen golds took the Sarnian tally to 20 titles, eight clear of the nearest opposition, Isle of Man.
Jon Marley, the Guernsey Island Games Association team manager, refuses to countenance that topping the medals tally is a certainty, but so far so very good was his reaction to another golden day in which swimming again came good.
