THE chase is very much on as to who will be Guernsey’s top swimmer at what is fast becoming an outstanding meet for the Sarnian squad.

Kristina Neves grabbed two more at Medina Centre last night to take her golden tally to four, one ahead of Ian Powell, who added the 100m butterfly title to the two golds he took on the opening night.

Three golds, a long string of silvers and a couple of bronzes in the 25m pool near Newport, was another terrific return for the squad and they are loving it, none more so than Powell, the old man of the team.

Moments after holding off fellow Sarnian Tom Hollingsworth and the Faroes’ Magnus Jakupsson, who had qualified quickest in the morning heats, Powell said simply: ‘I’ve missed this.’
