LOUISE PERRIO defended her 10,000m title to warm the chilled Sarnian spectators at Fairway Centre last night.

Perrio raced away from her Faroese and Hitran rivals with 250m to go and once away there was never going to be any catching the island record-holder, who afterwards spoke of her frustration at having to wait so many days to get competitively involved in the Games.

For those who know Perrio well and her ever-improving capabilities, it was more than half-an-hour of frustration.
