Floating restaurant a tight squeeze for Beaucette

The entrance is narrow and difficult enough for a normal boat, never mind a 110ft-long engineless barge.
THREADING a 110ft-long barge through a 32ft gap is just one challenge facing the installation of Beaucette Marina’s new floating restaurant.
The wind and tide will have to be just right when the attempt is made to guide the engineless Marienborgh through the notoriously narrow entrance in September, guided only by small Ribs.
But owner Stephen Haines said he was equally as nervous about the fact that planning permission had still not been granted, despite investing thousands of pounds in the project.
‘I’m sure common sense will prevail,’ he said. ‘As far as planning goes it ticks all the boxes – it’s going to be safe, it’s going to be fun, and it’s going to be great for tourism.’

So effectively Mr Haines is going to have two restaurants down there? Absolutely Planning should poor all over this; the Marina as a place for people to live is in a grey area of the law and now with extending it to accommodate restaurants. Casino next?
