Jewellery shop burglars bid to get jail terms reduced
Tuesday 12th July 2011, 2:29PM BST.
TWO smash-and-grab burglars, who stole more than £100,000 in goods from a Town jewellery shop, will find out today if they have been successful in their appeal against a four-and-a-half year prison sentences.
Jason Duncombe represented himself in yesterday’s Guernsey Court of Appeal hearing.
Although Thomas Marr did not attend, his appeal was considered at the same time. Both men were 27 when they were sentenced in February.
Duncombe claimed the sentence was excessive and had not taken into account their guilty pleas.
The men had smashed a display window of N St J Paint in the early hours of 6 July last year and taken jewellery and valuables worth £104,805.
