Building firm backs PSD on airport work reassurance

PUBLIC SERVICES has done all it can at this stage to try to reassure local labourers that islanders will be recruited for the airport development, a Guernsey firm has said.
J. W. Rihoy and Son managing director Gavin Rihoy said he did not know what else the department could do until a contract was signed.
Earlier this week, PSD said the firm earmarked for the works, Lagan Construction, planned to advertise for local staff.
But the department said the company had not begun recruiting or appointing suppliers because the Assembly had not yet confirmed the contract.
