Agency gets millions back to fraud victims

The statistic is included in the Guernsey Border Agency’s 2010 annual report, published today.

It highlights the need, when on occasion it is more cost-effective, to negotiate with overseas law enforcement and judicial authorities to pay money back to accounts directly controlled by them.

GBA chief officer Rob Prow said that while the focus on tackling drug trafficking remained, other aspects of the agency’s work, such as investigating financial crime and illegal immigration were becoming increasingly significant.
