STEREOTYPES about speeding drivers at North Beach are caused by a small minority, according to some young motorists who gather there.

Those spoken to by the Guernsey Press echoed comments made by Shane Rouget (pictured), who last week said that the police were targeting youngsters unfairly.

They said that the groups gathered at the Town car park to socialise and talk about cars, but the actions of a minority tarred them all with the same brush.

Jordan Bougourd, 20, said he had attended the emergency services road safety presentation – as a result of a letter written by Mr Rouget to the chief of police – last Thursday evening and had taken it seriously.

Yet a small group, he said, had turned up to take the mickey.

Its an unfortunate fact in many cases that there always seems to be a small group that makes the majority look bad!

If it is just the few then perhaps the rest should make them unwelcome and ask them to leave.
    Nicely of course.

ARRH THE DAYS WHEN WE USED TO DO THE SAME,PARK UP THE CROWN PIER… ISLAND SPIN, PARK UP AT THE CROWN, TO THE BRIDGE AND BACK TO THE CROWN,SATURDAY NIGHT LIFTS HOME FROM THE CROWN COS YOU ALWAYS NEW SOMEONE. GRAND PRIX TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT THE WEIGHBRIDGE…
MY POINT IS THERE WILL ALWAYS BE AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN YOUNG DRIVERS HAVING FUN WITH NOT MUCH ELSE TO DO AND YES, A FEW IDIOTS AMONGST THEM BUT THEY ARE THE MINORITY. AT LEAST NOW THEY HAVE TO WEAR SEAT BELTS AND ARE NOT OVER THE ALCOHOL LIMIT BECAUSE THE BREATHERLISER IS HERE NOW AND THE CARS ARE IN WAY BETTER CONDITION THAN THE WRECKS ON THE ROADS THEN.
LEAVE THEM BE,AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT HARMING ANYTHING OR ANYONE, THEY WONT DO THIS FOREVER AND THEY WILL ALWAYS BE REPLACED BY THE NEXT LOT.

For goodness sake, ask your parents and they will tell you that they use to park down the bathing pools on their motorbikes doing exactly the same thing, then when they got their car it was exactly the same. Wish people would stop going on as it this is a new thing, its been happening for a good 40/50 years now. The people moaning are the same people who use to do it on their bikes in the early years, now they are at home in the evening they can appreciate probably what the “older” generation had to go through. The good thing about now a days is that there is/or should be no drink driving, fox hunts etc however, back then you could park and the police knew where you were and left you alone unless there was some reason to come and see you……
