PREDICTED gale force nine winds forced the closure of the Greenman Stage and beer tent at the Chaos Festival on Sunday.
The tent was not built to withstand such strong winds, so after speaking to the supplier, festival organiser Chris ‘Ozy’ Chadwick made the decision to close it for safety reasons.
He added that the festival being exposed to the elements at Pleinmont made the risk greater.
‘It’s really disappointing but we had to think about the safety of the public first,’ he said.
‘The Peace Tent stayed open but a few people in the campsite were having their tents lifted slightly by the wind so even though probably nothing would have happened, we had to do it.’
