Charity in call out for African appeal

OXFAM is urging islanders to give much-needed donations to help people in crisis-hit East Africa.
After having lived in the area 12 years ago, the charity’s Smith Street shop manager Nikki James said the money is desperately needed for the famine crisis appeal.
‘I used to live in Uganda and Sudan and saw first hand the effect charities have out there.
‘What was once the horn of plenty in the 60s has now become the horn of nothing,’ she said.
