Recycling at risk as planners reject another bring bank site

Thursday 21st July 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Tina Norman-RossPLANNERS have for a second time rejected proposals for a new recycling site in St Martin’s.

Recycling officer Tina Norman- Ross (pictured) said Public Services was running out of options – and appealed to residents for suggestions.

‘We are very keen that St Martin’s does not lose its recycling facilities and, having now investigated quite a number of options, we are seriously hoping that somebody might come forward with an, as yet unforeseen, workable solution.’

The Environment Department has rejected plans for a stop-gap site at Raymond Falla House, Longue Rue.

Never happen – way too many rich people along Jerbourg Road who wouldn’t like the extra traffic, noise etc.

St Martins is one of the busiest Bring Banks in the island so it really is important that somewhere is found.

Since it could be argued that the supermarkets are probably the biggest suppliers of the packaging that needs to be dealt with one way or another, they could at least dedicate some of their car-parking space to dealing with the problem that they are creating.
