Gas prices to rise as well
Friday 22nd July 2011, 2:29PM BST.
GUERNSEY GAS prices are going up again.
The announcement followed news that Guernsey Electricity would be seeking further tariff increases to help fund its capital programme.
Age Concern vice-chairman Roy Trustum (pictured) said yesterday that unless the old age pension kept pace with the cost of living, elderly islanders would struggle to pay rising energy bills – and would sacrifice heating to pay for food.
From 1 August, all Guernsey Gas prices will increase by 0.8p a unit or 5.6p a litre.

@Jay
Too right.
There needs to be a desperate shake up within the various bodies charged with Elderley welfare. Our Elderley folk are proud and not given to going cap in hand to the authorities for what they in general see as a charity handout. The bodies in question should be contacting our older folk and listening to their needs with sensitivity.
