PUBLIC SERVICES is to be urged to release a consultant’s report looking at ways to transport materials to the airport runway project, because it apparently validates the idea of using Petit Bot as a temporary harbour.
So far only a few States members have seen the feasibility study but Deputy Shane McManus said all politicians should read the paper so that they can make a more fully informed decision about the multi-million pound airport work.
Writing on the www.thisisguernsey.com discussion forum he wrote: ‘Sight of the ISL [PSD’s consultants] May 2010 feasibility study makes it clear that Deputy [Barry] Paint was correct re. the landing and movement of materials; possibly even at a lesser cost.
‘However, the contractors and the project board have taken the view that road transport suits them better and it saves even temporary dislocation in Petit Bot valley.’

This is pathetic. McManus and Paint are grasping at straws in desparate attempt to save face.
Yes of course it is possible, but at what environmental damage? And the press keeps reporting this – I hereby declare silly season officially open

Deputy Barry Paint you should be congratulated on your bold thinking.
Why not go futher, and make an even bolder move which is obtain a waiver from the CAA making the RESA unnecessary.

For goodness sake will these two not just accept that the whole proposal is ridiculous, it doesn’t matter what “consultants” have said, the thought of a conveyor belt being constructed in Petit Bot valley is abhorrent to anyone who cares about Guernsey’s environment.
As for 60 lorries a day during normal working hours, that’s somewhere in between 6 and 8 lorries an hour, or one every 7.5 to 10 minutes. I fail to see what the big deal is.

As a p.s. to my above post, the buses cause far more disruption on our roads every day, they are far more common than these lorries will ever be.

I sincerely hope all matters were looked at
Low Tide, rocks on approach, foggy days
A sad poor consultant report, how much did they get paid?
Get real!
I do not love cloud cuckoo land any more

I wonder how many private properties that white line passes through … and how many compulsory purchases that might entail?

I don’t know why, but every time I see a picture of these two geniuses pitching the most absurd idea I’ve even heard of in my life, I get a mental image of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble using their “bronto cranes” to shunt all that stuff up Petit Bot hill……
yabba dabba doo….!!!!!

Those two so called whatever:
when I think of other comedians I think of Abbott and Costello. Laurel and Hardy and many others.
At least we had to smile..
These two make me cry–
Yes cry for my Island, they make a laughing stock of us.
Hopefully they ne’er do that again after next year, their likes are not wanted their like must be banished from our political life… FOREVER.
