GUERNSEY had the first boat across the line, but Jersey took the top honour in the 2011 Carey Olsen Inter Island Yacht Race.

Despite challenging conditions that tested the determination and skills of 67 participating yachts, the Jersey boat Jackana, skippered by David Jones, completed the crossing from St Helier to St Peter Port in a corrected time of four hours and 54 minutes to win.

Sarnian entry Majic, skippered by Micky Holland, had been first to reach Guernsey, but finished 10th overall once handicaps were taken into account.

Two Guernsey yachts completed the top three, with Martin Ozard’s X-Celerator and Aden Clark’s Blue J’Ade finishing second and third respectively.
