Make Town Carnival last all summer, say some shops
Tuesday 26th July 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Entertainment in Market Square yesterday was provided by ClassyCool, left to right, Teodora Ilieva, Cheryl Cory, Heidi Parson and Amanda Drummond.
ST PETER PORT should have a summer-long festival, according to some retailers.
This week sees the Town Carnival take place with music and entertainment in the streets.
It received a great response from islanders, tourists and shops, with everyone agreeing it brought a great atmosphere.
‘It is great,’ said Jamie Pang, manager of jeweller Martin and Martin. ‘It brings a bit of a buzz and an ambience round Town. I do not see why they cannot do it throughout the summer. You see it all over the UK.’
Helen Cooney, owner of Little Monkeys children’s clothing shop, agreed. ‘It definitely gets a lot more people in. It is a shame it is only for one week.’
