Allen’s Swindon link
Wednesday 27th July 2011, 2:30PM BST.
SPECULATION linking Ross Allen with interest from League Two club Swindon Town was dismissed yesterday.
The 24-year-old Guernsey FC striker (pictured), who has rattled in five goals in two pre-season games, had reportedly been on Paulo Di Canio’s radar, according to whispers at Swindon’s last pre-season friendly at Cirencester Town.
But, according to the UK club, Allen is not a target, although they are still looking for a new centre-forward to add to their 11 other summer signings.
Despite the apparent disinterest, GFC teammate Chris Tardif believes that Allen could succeed in the Football League, in which Tardif was involved for many years. ‘Obviously there is a step up and a lot to learn, but goals win games and you can’t take that ability away,’ he said.

No Brett Pitman is he to be honest…

Not enough of a team player and misses too many of his chances unfortunately.

I think he has enough attributes for a pro club to have a closer look !

is that a picture of a cardboard cut-out???

Being pro is about conversion ratio. His shots to goals is poor in relative terms to alot of other strikers in Guernsey at present.
Although I suspect playing at a higher level would bring about a more ”professional” approach with more ”concentration”. I.e. if you job depended on it and you weren’t the only good player at your club you’d have more will to score!
Definately has skill and dribbling ability by the bucket load. Will be nice to see how he gets on playing a season with higher quality players than he is used to as may vastly improve the weaknesses bought on by 1) playing at St Andrew weekly and 2)with lesser quality players.
Would be good to see him get a chance as he’s been plugging away at it for years so would be nice for him to get a break.
I’d give him a go as a winger!

A low conversion ratio hasn’t stopped the likes of Emile Heskey and Carlton Cole playing for England!
