A SECOND-HALF blitz saw Guernsey FC lose out 3-1 in their maiden away friendly match against Horley Town at the New Defence last night.

Ross Allen gave the Green Lions the first-half lead with a superb effort, with the visitors dominating proceedings.

But Horley hit back after the break, Darren Tidy’s strike and a Kyle Hough brace within a six-minute period condemning a much-changed Guernsey team to defeat.

Are we starting to see a pattern forming here i.e. we always seem to start well/dominate/take the lead etc, then capitulate in the second half and end up losing.

Is it a lack of fitness? Commitment? Concentration? There must be some explanation, and the problem needs to be rectified before the season starts if we’re to get anywhere.

Phil – Don’t read too much into the result last night. Yes, after the flying start GFC have had we need to remember it’s a ‘freindly’ and these matches are the perfect place to try new things, make mistakes and generally learn about the team and what standard they are up against.

The real test will be our 1st league away game when 3 points are at stake.

I wasn’t reading too much into last night, I was thinking more about the Muratti and the Island Games, hopefully lessons have been learned.
