The Guernsey Marathon course record holder, last year's race winner Chris Carre, has confirmed his entry for next month's event.
A HANDFUL of American runners are part of the worldwide contingent set to compete in next month’s Guernsey Marathon.
With nearly six weeks still to go until the third annual edition since its rebirth in 2009, entry numbers look on course to be record-breaking.
More than 150 individual runners have already committed to the race on the final Sunday of August, with the total well over 400 when relay runners are taken into account. Nearly three-quarters of that list is made up of foreign runners, including entrants from Taiwan, South Africa, various European countries, as well as those five Americans.
Last year’s top two, Chris Carre and Garry Payne, are also competing again. Carre is the course record holder and race organiser Peter Head is delighted. ‘I am absolutely gobsmacked at how the event has taken off again so quickly and the support we have for it,’ he said.
