COBO TIGERS inflicted a first defeat of the Division One season on Rovers last evening, Stuart Le Prevost seeing them home with a rapid undefeated 29.

Seldom has Port Soif been so warm and idyllic this summer as it was for this showdown between the two modern greats of the evening game, but the home team shot themselves in the foot to a degree by only being able to field 10 men.

For a game so important in terms of the destination of the title, it seemed a tad criminal on Rovers’ part to turn up short, but it is perhaps symbolic of the dysfunction of the top league in recent seasons.

The win puts Cobo in a strong position, but Rovers are not out of it and Corinthians could yet lift their first title.
