Bristol City keen to keep up local link
Saturday 30th July 2011, 2:29PM BST.

Bristol City Academy and Guernsey FC were opponents last weekend as a result of the professional club's link with the GFA.
BRISTOL CITY have confirmed that they will continue to support the Guernsey Football Association’s Centre of Excellence next season.
The centre provides additional and structured training for selected young players from under-10s to 14s, with the intention of bringing them on for representative football or even the professional game.
It now operates as one of Bristol City’s satellite development centres and last season youngsters from the centre visited the club to play matches against their academy sides.
The Npower Championship club agreed the deal with the GFA at the start of last season through former chairman Steve Lansdown, who stood down from the club’s board at the end of last season, although he remains major shareholder. Financial backing from the Ashton Gate club will fund coach and venue costs, and coaches and players will again wear Bristol City’s training kit.
