Allen at the double on first away trip

Ross AllenA LAST-GASP equaliser denied Guernsey FC all three points last night as they drew 2-2 at Hartley Wintney in their first competitive Combined Counties League Division One match on UK soil.

Super sub Ross Allen (pictured) had scored a superb brace as GFC came from a goal down at the break by Dean Peltohaka, aided by a sending off to Hartley Wintney’s Chris Paterson.

That looked like it would clinch a second successive victory for GFC, until Martin Williams powered in a 94th minute free-kick from 20 yards, with the last kick of the game.

The night had been bizarre in many ways for GFC, who had played the first half in their opponent’s blue-and-white away kit after a fellow passenger had taken their kit bag after arriving in Gatwick, although the traditional green kit arrived in time for the second period.
