‘Parole body will need to explain decisions better’

EARLY release judgements will need more explanation in future, an advocate has said after securing the first successful appeal against the Parole Review Committee.
Trinity Chambers partner Andrew Ayres (pictured) said now a judicial review had confirmed the body was wrong to refuse convicted killer Alan Baker parole as it did not have all the relevant information, steps needed to be taken to ensure it did not happen again.
‘The fact that they didn’t have the information is not a real cause for concern,’ he said.
‘But the fact that they came to that decision without it is.’
