Squad stretched as Vance has eight players missing

THE wedding of one of the island’s top players – Marc McGrath – injuries and work commitments have robbed the Green Lions of eight players for Saturday’s away game against Eversley.

The absentees include skipper Sam Cochrane, club captain Matt Warren and arguably the most versatile player in the entire squad, Angus Mackay.

But Tony Vance is putting a brave face on the problem and said that as long as his selected squad of 15 survive unscathed from the week’s domestic programme, which includes the Martinez, he is comfortable with the group he has at his disposal.

‘Yes, there are players unavailable, but it is still a decent squad.’
