Ogier elects himself coach
Thursday 18th August 2011, 2:30PM BST.
ONE of the worst-kept secrets in local football was officially revealed yesterday when former senior island boss Steve Ogier was given a key new role in the development of football.
The GFA have confirmed the appointment of Ogier, pictured, whose last job in the game was as boss of Athletics, as technical coordinator for the representative teams through age groups under-16s to under-21s.
His mandate is to identify and head a team of suitably-qualified coaches and to support the identification of players with talent and potential who would benefit from being in the squads, and who could progress to senior representative football and contention for Guernsey FC.
In the short term he will coach both the under-18 and under-21 squads this season, while Martyn de Garis stays on as under-16 coach with Mark Totty assisting.

good luck steve in your new position. just be careful who you pick as coaches, they may have lots of certificates, but look at their records and results. this is a very important set-up,and with the right people could make a big improvement to the future. but the right people, not friends with certificates

One thing I do not understand is this.
Steve was forced to resign as island manager when he took up a post with a newly formed club, the Tics.
Tony Vance was island manager when he took up a post with a newly formed club, Guernsey FC, but he is allowed to remain as island manager.
Why the double standards?

FA Badges don’t make good coaches its a fact at all levels and different coaches records speak for themselves!!They will help in small areas but Knowledge and understanding of the game, man management, delivering training sessions and getting players respect makes good coaches and managers!!
