Colleges will try to stay affordable

COLLEGES will try to avoid a hike in fees in the wake of losing almost a quarter of their taxpayer funding, two governors have said.
Both Blanchelande and Ladies’ College spokesmen said they would work hard to ensure charges would not become unaffordable.
The comments come in response to a proposal by the Policy Council to cut the annual college grants by £1.11m. by 2018 – down from £4.88m.
Ladies’ College chairman of governors Peter Gillson (pictured) said the cut would make life more difficult.
