WITH as many as 44 entrants for the annual Guernsey Rifle Club Summer Prize Meeting the local club wanted fine weather and their wishes were granted with the range bathed in sunshine for the greater part of the weekend.

A large contingent from the RAF Target Rifle Club provided strong opposition for the local marksmen, who were joined by a group of Jersey shooters and a few independents.

The meeting opened with a Queen’s I shoot comprising two sighters and seven shots to count at 300, 500 and 600 yards and gave Richard Benest the opportunity to demonstrate his short range skills.

The Jerseyman finished with 105.17 ex 105.21 to take the Ex-Serviceman’s Trophy from Richard Perkins on 105.11 and Rob Waters on 104.08.
