Vance ‘Digs’ deep
Wednesday 24th August 2011, 2:30PM BST.
FIFTEEN years after making three Muratti appearances in one season, veteran keeper Paul de Garis has been called up for Guernsey FC.
The North keeper, 37, is the solitary No. 1 in the 16-strong Green Lions squad for this weekend’s double-header, away to Frimley Green on Saturday and Cobham on Bank Holiday Monday.
De Garis (pictured), who conceded just one goal in 270-plus minutes of Muratti action, gets his chance as first-choice Chris Tardif is unavailable, as is young James Hamon, who is leading the charge for the Guernsey junior inter-insular golf team at La Moye this weekend.
But ahead of de Garis, Vance is able to recall most of the players who missed the 2-1 win at Eversley last Saturday.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
This is scraping the barrel, and is going to happen more than often. This is the biggest issue with Guernsey FC expecting to be a premier league club, when players have responsibilities off the pitch and have those things called jobs as well, which tend to get in the way.
In any case, what happened to Richard Davies? I thought he was third choice – no mention of him.
Guernsey FC will need all the luck in the world with this match.

I’m sure they’ll do fine. I think getting 3-4 points from this long weekend would be good. Any more is a bonus! :-)
