Intellectual property experts call on States to fast-track image law

LOCAL intellectual property experts have called on the States to back proposals to introduce image rights legislation.
They believe the diversification it would bring to Guernsey’s economy cannot be underestimated, with the additional wealth creation it would be expected to lead to in a number of sectors.
Commerce and Employment is taking a report to the States next month outlining its plans to introduce such legislation locally.
If enabled and brought into force, Guernsey would become the first jurisdiction in the world to introduce specific image rights legislation and its own register.
