ISLANDERS finally got to see how the former Woolworths premises had been linked to the Marks and Spencer store on the High Street at the weekend.
A launch party on Friday evening attracted more than 200 people eager to see the result of the £4m. transformation ahead of its first full day of trading on Saturday.
Margaret Rumens and Anne Diamond, who have both worked at Creasey’s for more than 40 years, officially opened the new store.
Tony Creasey, managing director of Creasey’s, which holds the M&S franchise in the island, said the reception to the opening had been brilliant.

Did I hear that the High Street is going to be renamed “La Rue Des Creaseys”? Lol

Soon the whole island will be only one or two franchises with a little help from the Environment of course. Come to sunny Guernsey it may cost you a small fortune to get here but it looks just like the UK. Don’t forget they offer VAT free shopping so it will only cost you at least twice the price.

I think Creaseys have ‘missed a trick’ here. Considering the lack of decent furniture stores in Guernsey I would have thought they might have set aside a decent amount of floorspace to display furniture and homewares in general. Yes there is a rather elaborate furniture ordering corner but I for one would like to see what my hard earned cash is buying before placing an order. One table and chairs and a wardrobe does not a display make. Also,in respect of bedding etc. considering we are precluded from ordering from the website it is a real nuisance that the variety of stock on display is so small.

I see Guernsey has it’s first set of Escalators since Le Riches when they were in the Specsavers Building!
