Roger starts record bid

AFTER a week of waiting, Roger Allsopp’s record-breaking Channel swim attempt finally got under way today.
Five years after his first Channel swim, the 70-year-old retired surgeon is aiming to become the oldest person to complete the challenge.
Conditions were calm when he set off from Shakespeare Beach, near Dover, at 8am. He is raising money for charity Hope for Guernsey, which supports the Wessex Medical Trust.
