Planes here, but Red Arrows display still not certain
Wednesday 31st August 2011, 2:29PM BST.
RED ARROW pilots will be coming to the Channel Islands, but it is not certain that they will be performing their trademark aerobatic show for this year’s Battle of Britain air display.
Royal Air Forces Association Guernsey Branch president and Battle of Britain organiser Alan Brunger had confirmation yesterday that the jets would travel to Jersey on Tuesday – ahead of next Thursday’s displays in the islands.
‘They are continuing to do their work-up [practise] with eight aircraft,’ he said.
‘They don’t normally have eight – it is usually nine – so that makes a difference. But, as we speak, they are practising at their home base. Only if their work-up goes well will they display.’
