Guernsey 5, Jersey 4
PLAYER-COACH Andy Whalley hit four in a remarkable turnaround in yesterday’s Islands hockey Tournament men’s final at Footes Lane.
Jersey led 3-1 at the break and were still two goals to the good with less than 20 minutes to play.
But given hope by an Adam Clark strike 18 minutes from the end, the Greens stormed back. With Whalley hitting three to add to his first half strike, Jersey were left stunned by a 5-4 reverse they did not see coming.
It was a thrilling conclusion to the men’s tournament and that Whalley was the star turn there is no doubt.
