IT WAS a disappointing Saturday afternoon for local football sides in inter-insular matches as St Martin’s and Rovers both lost out to Jersey opposition.
Reigning Wheway Cup winners St Martin’s crashed out at the first hurdle of their defence, a weakened side falling 3-2 away at Grouville, with Luke Winch and Scott Bradford the goalscorers for the Sarnians.
Rovers faced an even stiffer task in hosting Jersey champions St Paul’s at Port Soif in the Jeremie Cup and the Caesareans showed their class, coming out comfortable 4-0 winners.
Meanwhile, there were also two one-sided games in the Priaulx League as youngsters took centre stage at both Northfield and St Peter’s.
