Wages up by 3.5% more than inflation

Julian WinserAVERAGE wages have increased by 3.5% in real terms during the last five years, latest figures have shown.

The Guernsey Facts and Figures booklet, published by the Policy Council, revealed the island’s median average salary was £27,430 last year.

That represents a jump of £920 since 2006 – a cumulative rise of 3.5% when inflation is taken into account.

Chamber of Commerce president Julian Winser (pictured) said the progression over a few years was an important statistic.
