COLLECTING for the Royal Air Forces Association Wings Appeal last week raised a substantial amount despite the weather forcing the cancellation of some Battle of Britain events, and the lack of personnel from the disbanded 201 (Guernsey’s Own) Squadron.
A parade was held yesterday along the seafront in Town to commemorate the battle.
Members of RAF St Mawgan and the Elizabeth College Combined Cadet Force were backed by music from the Guernsey Scout Band.
A church service followed, which was attended by Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland and Lt-Governor Air Marshal Peter Walker.
