Bodman’s date with destiny
Wednesday 14th September 2011, 2:30PM BST.
ERICA BODMAN is in final preparations for the biggest weekend of her rowing career as she gets ready to represent Great Britain in the European Championships.
The 23-year-old Sarnian has qualified as a member of the British eights for the event in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, as she continues a journey she hopes will earn her Olympic qualification next year, or, more realistically, in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
Bodman (pictured) has been selected in the number three seat for the team, which heads to Eastern Europe tomorrow, ahead of qualifying heats on Friday and the final on Sunday.
With only six crews in the race, the heat is simply about lanes for the final, although the British will face stiff competition from a strong field, most notably an unchanged Romanian team.
