A CHARITABLE fund has been set up to ensure the long-term survival of St James.
The St James Jubilee Foundation is aiming to raise £500,000 so that the concert and assembly hall can continue to be used for the foreseeable future, while at the same time protecting it from any adverse circumstances.
With the approval of the foundation’s trustees, funds will be released to the Friends of St James Association, which is responsible for the venue’s operation, for capital projects that need to be carried out and to develop the centre’s artistic and cultural work. They will not be used to pay operational overheads.
A reception yesterday evening to mark the foundation’s launch attracted approximately 200 guests, including Lt-Governor Air Marshal Peter Walker.
