Let HR, risk and compliance teams work together

Carey Olsen Senior Associate Huw Thomas COMPLIANCE and human resources teams need to work as one within an organisation, an employment seminar has heard.

Speaking at a Carey Olsen seminar at St James on regulatory compliance and employment law, senior associate Huw Thomas (pictured) said the relationship between the two functions was increasingly important to deliver an effective risk management strategy.

‘Compliance, risk and HR need to be one single function rather than three separate silos,’ said Mr Thomas.

He was looking closely at issues that can arise in the recruitment process carried out by firms and how screening and vetting potential employees was key.
