Deputy says admin scheme will benefit from previous lessons

Allister LangloisLESSONS learned from past overspends have been used to try and make sure the project to reform States administration and IT systems finishes on time and on budget, according to the man who will head the scheme.

Deputy Allister Langlois (pictured) will chair the project board which will deliver the updated SAP States business system and the shared transactional service centre, which will deal with every department and committee’s back-office jobs, if it is approved by the States.

‘There have been problems in the past and lessons have been learned in terms of corporate policy,’ he said.

New codes of practice about managing capital projects were introduced in 2009 after a series of high profile overspends including the new jetty project which cost four times its original budget.
