Residents petition States over burner

NEIGHBOURS hoping to stop an incinerator’s emissions have begged deputies to block a request to make its owners eligible for burning waste wood.

States members will decide at this month’s debate whether to give Whispers Vinery permission to use the public waste stream in order to heat its greenhouses.

Approval would allow director Mark Langlois to apply for an operating licence from the director of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation.

But disgusted Rue des Goddards residents have petitioned politicians to scupper the attempt, claiming toxic smoke has been pouring out of the vinery’s chimney.
