Permission granted for Town shop restaurant
Saturday 17th September 2011, 2:29PM BST.
A RESTAURANT could be opening in the Le Lievre’s building after planning permission was approved for a change of use.
The family-run business in the High Street is set to close after Christmas. Since that announcement in July there has been a flurry of planning applications for the site.
The latest one to get permission will allow the owner, the Fuller Group, to change the first, second, third and fourth floors from retail to cafe, bar, restaurant or shop space. There is also a provision to allow food to be taken away.
However, planners included several provisos in their approval.

whats with the negativity to someone trying to bring something new to Guernsey. Personally think its a great idea and will ”regenerate” what is a pretty rubbish little corner of town. Always good to get somewhere new to eat and to be honest as nice a shop as le leivres is its very expensive relative to Alladins Cave etc

I am surprised the Environment Department has not advised them to turn it into a block of Luxury flats with sea view(Guernsey words for bed-sit with an extra room).”Oh sorry my mistake it’s not Greenland or an area of natural beauty”

i am sad le lievres is closing, and i disagree that it is a “rubbish little corner of town”! I frequent most of those shops on a regular basis and think it is a lovely spot. And yes, it may be a bit more expensive than a certain out of town shop, but the quality of kitchenware is much better. I just hope Thorntons will relocate!
