Richard de la RueAN islander with a paralysed leg is planning a one-hour swim to help raise money for charity.

Richard de la Rue (pictured), whose leg was affected by paralytic polio, will attempt the non-stop swim at Beau Sejour in aid of the Guernsey Society for Physically Disabled People.

More commonly known as the Ron Short Centre, the GSPD covers the cost of hiring the pool for one hour at Beau Sejour exclusively for people who have a disability.

‘I think it is just a great facility and would urge all people who may have a disability to make use of it, because the benefits you get from swimming are brilliant,’ said Mr de la Rue.
