Beachcombers take litter away to put something back
Monday 19th September 2011, 2:29PM BST.
ISLANDERS have combed Guernsey’s beaches, cleaning and counting litter and rubbish as part of the National Beachwatch Big Weekend.
The results of the initiative, which asked volunteers to survey a minimum 100-metre stretch of coastline for rubbish and clean it up, will be published in the annual Marine Conservation Society Beachwatch report.
One group spent yesterday afternoon patrolling Pembroke.
Operations manager Pete Bowker, 25, said islanders had a responsibility to keep the bays clean.
