Bidders make donkey work pay for GALP

(Picture by Peter Frankland, 1180420)PRICES went up into the thousands as keen bidders flocked to support the Guernsey Adult Literacy Project donkey auction.

The Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts was standing room only as people crammed in to watch around 40 fibreglass works of art go under the hammer yesterday.

Sue Brooks, 63, bought two donkeys, Doc and Patch, for £1,100 and £2,000.

‘I bought them because my little granddaughter, Suzie Meinke, 2, took me round the island every other day over the last few weeks looking for donkeys,’ she said.
